It9s been wet.
That one phrase sums up all that we9re
dealing with. Florida is low lying. We really do not have mountains or any high
ground, so dealing with water is a constant issue. Then to make things worse,
during the summer we have afternoon/
evening rains, which are made worse by
hurricanes. One blessing is that we do
not have to water. Instead, we have to
make sure things are not rotting in the
ground. The retention pond and the
drainage ditch can only cope with so
much water. Lord, we need a better solution4one that9s not going to cost us
thousands of dollars.
The other issue with all this water and
heat is the insanely high humidity. It9s like
a sauna out there. After two, maybe
three hours of outside work, you are
wasted. You sweat by the bucketload
and still can9t get cool. All your clothes
are soaked. And if you stay out any
longer, you can become faint.
The weeds are enjoying these conditions. And they are taking advantage of
the limited amount of time we9re spending in the farm. They are taking over the
beds and getting established around
the trees.
The solution is to get to the farm even
earlier. As soon as there9s enough light I
need to be there working before it gets
hot. That way I think that I can put in five
hours of work before heat and exhaustion take over.
Spiritual warfare exists in various forms.
One is the county planning department.
We9re being bounced from department
to department trying to get the planning
permission. Please pray for a break
through. We need a department to take
ownership and to grant us permits so
that we can proceed with the building
work.
We are going ahead with a community
focused Gardening Master Class with international trainer Wendy Johnson.
We9ve bought 209x809 shade tents so
that the teaching can be done in a little
comfort. Participants will be able to take
part in the demonstrations and have
hands-on learning. The classes are once
a month, on the third Sunday of the
