OUT of TIME
American Ginseng
The last of our American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) has officially been harvested, and
the rest of the plants have been left to mature. Once old enough, they too will be harvested, as we cycle through their generations.
For those that will ask, yes, these are technically cultivated roots. For years now, we have
been planting American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) rootstock, as well as spreading
seeds in three different states throughout the Appalachian4 WV, VA and MD. We recreate
designated habitats in the native habitats that
they would grow. We also allow their populations to thrive and spread as they naturally
would in nature.
When it's time to harvest, which is usually
around September/October, we until the plants
have three prongs and are at least 5 years old.
Some states require or recommend 10 years of
age before harvesting. Because ginseng is extremely slow growing, this is the only way to en-
sure the survival of its future generations.
As you can imagine, when you are making remedies or supplements on a large scale like we
do here at HealthPrimitive, harvesting sustainably can be tricky, but so far we have made it
work flawlessly!
Growing your own ginseng can be done when
given the right environments. The hardest part
of the entire process is learning patience

NOTE: American ginseng is a plant considered in jeopardy due to over harvesting in the
wild. If you are legally allowed to do so in your state, make sure that you are harvesting responsibly and sustainably so that we can protect the survival of this species. NEVER harvest
young plants that are not fully mature, or take too many from one area.

️SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
