can tell her that I want to practice my Thai and wait for an opportunity to tell
her I am a Christian. So, I did! It was not the easiest things to do, but I figured
what do I have to loose and when will I see her again. The lady and I had a
lovely conversation, I told her I was a Christian and that I was here to share
Jesus and to be a blessing to the community (like Jesus modeled in His life).
She didn't show lots of interest, but she was polite and I planted a seed.
Rene has been doing an intensive Thai course in Bangkok and he met the
owner of a small restaurant where he eats lunch after class. In conversation
with the owner, he found out that she is a Christian and that her church
meets in small groups twice a month in preparation for the end time. How
refreshing to meet a Christian that is so intentional about their time. When we
are aware of this, it is easy to be more careful with our time.
A couple of weekends ago we went with (our) kids from the Children's Home
on a little outing and they got to go to one of their favorite stores which is like
the "Dollar Tree" in the USA. Well, while we were there, a lady that spoke
broken English asked me about the kids and told me she wanted to buy
something for them, because her children were having a birthday. Here in
Thailand, Buddhist usually give merit on their birthday or what they call (Tham
Boon). They will make a donation to a charity or to the monks. Well, this lady,
who looked like she didn't have much herself, insisted on buying something
for the kids. I agreed and after she paid for it, I asked one of the boys to pray
for her in Thai. She was crying and obviously extremely moved by the prayer.
I thank God, for the (our) kids at the Children's Home, because God is
bringing us alongside Angela (their missionary mom), and their school, to
empower them to be missionaries today and in the future. We want them to
know that time is precious and they can use it to be a blessing.
These are some random thoughts that help me be more intentional. Thank
you for your prayers.
